9 ways to be more mindful.

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the practice of being present and fully engaged in the here & now. It’s the art of being aware of your thoughts, feelings, and sensations without judgment. Here are 9 ways to be more mindful:

1. Start your day mindfully: Begin your day by taking a few deep breaths, setting an intention, and focusing on the now.

2. Take breaks throughout the day: Instead of working through your lunch break or pushing yourself to the brink of exhaustion, take a few minutes throughout the day to pause, take a deep breath, and re-center yourself.

3. Put your phone on do not disturb: Focus on what you are doing right now, remove the distractions.

4. Practice gratitude: Take time each day to reflect on what you’re grateful for. This can help shift your focus from what you don’t have to what you do have.

5. Eat outside: Spending time in nature is so grounding. Sit outside, be present and appreciate the beauty around you.

6. Mindful chores: When doing the dishes, or cleaning up, or making your bed, focus on the task at hand. Rather than rushing through to get to the next thing, focus on that single moment. Enjoy the simple act.

7. Mindful meals: Eat a meal mindfully each day. This means eating without your phone in your hand, scrolling your laptop, or watching TV. Pay attention to the taste, texture, and smell of your food.

8. Cook and enjoy the process: remove your phone from the kitchen, be aware of the ingredients you use with all your senses and anchor your mind on the task at hand.

9. Take a mindful approach to technology: Limit your use of technology and social media, and be mindful of the impact it has on your well-being.
